Garmin nuvi 750: Review
Garmin nuvi 750 review:

If you are ready to upgrade to one of Garmin's advanced nuvi-700 series GPS, then consider the second-level model- the Garmin nuvi 750. Despite lacking the features of its successors, this model navigates with expectations and meets high standards of product quality. Although it lacks impressive add-ons such as Bluetooth or included traffic services, the simple interface and voice-spoken street names makes the Garmin nuvi 750 one of the easiest GPS systems to use.

Measuring 4.8" x 3" x 0.8" and weighing an easy 6.2 ounces, the Garmin nuvi 750 is nearly identical in dimensions to its 700-series siblings. Thanks to a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, this model can perform as needed for up to 5 hours, which is great for those road trips that lead you beyond your city. Although the nuvi 750 is not waterproof, it is rugged enough for portable or automobile operations. Unfortunately, it lacks some of the features of the other 700-series GPS systems, so consumers are advised to browse all models to determine which one is right for them.

Rating:  3.6 out of 5

Value

Since the latest release of Garmin GPS systems, retailers have been slashing the prices on older models such as the nuvi 700 series. This particular model has been equally reduced in price, which is more lucrative to shoppers looking for a great bargain on a well-designed GPS system. Consumers who want Bluetooth and onboard traffic, however, will have to choose from a different model. The Garmin nuvi 750 is a great value, but it disappoints somewhat with the lack of features. In addition, the maps are great but satellite performance is less impressive.

Features

With features like Garmin Lock anti-theft, FM transmitter, and text-to-speech, the nuvi 750 is enough to get a consumer's attention but not enough to convince everyone. Unlike the 710, 760, 770, and 780 models, this device does not include Bluetooth or onboard traffic-a disappointment for some travelers. The nuvi 750 functions very well as both navigational device and MP3 player, but it still fall short in some aspects. This model does allow for multiple destinations, as well as intelligent re-routing, in addition to the 500 programmable waypoints. The onboard audio speaker is substandard, but this device includes a headphone jack that provides better quality sound. If you don't need the upgraded features like Bluetooth or integrated traffic, then this might be the GPS for you. Even still, you may want to shop around for the best GPS feature-wise.

Summary

If you are not sure which nuvi 700-series GPS to choose, then you will definitely want to take into consideration the features that each model includes. Nearly every model is identical in shape and size, with a few exceptions, but the features and price sets each device apart. The nuvi 750 does not include Bluetooth, traffic, or MSN Direct, so this model is barebones of fancy functions. In contrast, the text-to-speech and intelligent re-routing features are impressive, in addition to the excellent set of maps. The SD memory card slot is perfect for adding even more maps, or using the device as a MP3 player. If you want the best features, then the nuvi 750 may not be for you. But if you are looking for navigational performance and quality at a decent price, then you may still consider this model.

Pros

  • Value- price is more comparable than in the past
  • Navigation- satellite delayed but maps are great
  • Versatile- works as navigational device and MP3 player (includes SD card slot)
  • User-friendly- multi-destinations and intelligent re-routing, plus text-to-speech

Cons

  • Lackluster- misses impressive features like Bluetooth or traffic
