Polk Audio TSi400: Review

Standing tall at roughly 38 inches with a 14inch depth, the Polk Audio TSi400 comes with a 5 year warranty to protect your new loudspeakers for many years. Capable of outputs from 20 to 200 watts per channel, the TSi400 has three 5 1/4 inch subwoofers for maximum sound output. The speaker also comes with one silk dome 1inch tweeter to really sure up the overall effect the unit can produce.

The TSi400 floor standing loudspeakers from Polk come with patented stabilizer feet to prevent your speakers from jumping around your room when the volume really starts to get turned up and coupled with Polks Narrow baffle geometry design, your speakers are modern and sleek looking while being capable of outstanding sound output. The speakers are enclosed in a quality MDF enclosure with 3/4 inch thick baffles to prevent any sound reverberation during playback. Cabinets are available in a cherry or black wood finish, so they should fit in with most household decors fairly well.

Quality

Quality parts have been a signature of previous design in the Polk stable, so the TSi400 series really benefits from that experience. Through the inclusion of 3/4 inch thick baffles in each enclosure, there is serious difference in the quality of the models Polk produces compared to the competition. Add in the multiple small-diameter driver configuration instead of one large woofer, the loudspeaker has cut no corners in attempting to provide the ultimate in quality parts.

Performance

At outputs of a maximum 200 watts per channel, the TSi400 loudspeaker provides top end performance that can expected to stand out in your home theater. Like previous models, the TSi400's combine quality parts with experienced design to ensure that maximum sound quality is achieved. With the three mid-range 5 1/4 inch subwoofers output through the semi organic fiber cone, crisp sound quality is available at all ranges. There is an overall frequency response of 34-25khz, providing sharp sound output that really hits the mark.

Summary

If you have the room to accommodate these free standing loudspeakers, then there is no reason to overlook them for an option with less height. The three subwoofers means the TSi400's are slightly taller than competing loudspeakers that only feature one large woofer, but if you've got the room for them, there is no reason not to use it.
