Sony NWZB135F: Review
If you're looking for a super-portable, full-featured MP3 player, the Sony NWZB135F Walkman deserves a look. Available in black, pink or red, the NWZB135F features 2GB of storage, a built-in FM tuner, and a 3-line color LCD display. The unit support MP3 and WMA audio formats, Secure Windows Media Format, and features a voice recording feature.

The device has 30 FM station presets, USB direct-connect, and up to 16 hours of battery life. There is also a Quick Charge mode which gives 90 minutes of playback on a 3-minute charge. The unit features a 5-band equalizer, a Mega Bass Button, and can store up to 475 songs. The device measures a tiny 3-5/8-" x 1-" x 5/8-" and features a stereo mini jack on one end and a USB connector covered with a rubber boot on the other end.

Rating:  4.8 out of 5

Value

The NWZB135F represents an excellent value for the money. It has all of the most-wanted features at a very reasonable price. And it carries Sony's excellent reputation for quality and durability. Sound reproduction is excellent, though you'll likely find that the bass is insufficient without the Mega Bass mode enabled. This is OK, except that the Mega Bass button disables the built in equalizer. The included earbuds are above average, the midrange is full, and the unit produces clear, crisp highs.

Ergonomics

This would be 5 (red me) stars except for a couple of items. The battery life is somewhat disappointing when compared to the competition, although the quick charge feature is quite nice. Also, the display is tiny to say the least, so be prepared for a little eyestrain if you use it often. On the other hand, the design is excellent and the USB direct connect means there's one less cable to keep track of. The control layout is very sensible and the menus are easy to navigate (provided you can see them).

Summary

All-in-all, an excellent offering from Sony. They pioneered the personal portable audio device and they continue to live up to the excellent reputation earned by the Walkman brand. The NWZB135F is a very usable device, fits in any pocket, and the price is very reasonable. And its availability in 3 colors is a nice bonus as well.
