Klipsch WF-34: Review

The Klipsch WF-34 speakers are part of Icon W Series line up. These floor standing speakers offer great sound quality and an aesthetically pleasing design that will make both audiophiles and interior designers swoon. It is a form meets function game for Klipsch and WF-34 hits it out of the park on both sides of the game.

The WF-34 speakers have XT Tractrix Horn-loaded technology with the Titanium tweeter for soaring highs. These horns alter the surface geometry of the cone to provide a smooth sound with extremely low distortion without a loss to high output. It is truly a thing of beauty. The floor speakers are encased in furniture grade wood finishes in both espresso (a deep dark brown) and Cabernet (a wine color); both are gorgeous.

Features

The Klipsch floor standing speakers offers solid features packed into an attractive design. With three 4.5 inch (11.4 cm) fiberglass cone woofers, the loudspeakers contribute to the wide frequency response (50Hz-23kHz +/-3dB). The 1-inch titanium tweeter offers the higher frequencies and the cone woofers provide the solid bass that will ripple through the body without a problem. While the WF-34s can stand alone as main stereo channels, by adding a WC-24 Center Channel Speaker, WS-24 Surround Speakers and the XW-300d Subwoofer you will have the perfect audio package.

Ergonomics

Speakers are often seen by some as a product that people deal with to get great sound but Klipsch has managed to make floor speakers actually look good. The different cabinet colors are stunning and match quality furniture you may have. The size of the speakers might be a minor issue for some, but the size is necessary to house the three woofers and horn. The connections are pretty straight forward and well placed. They are fairly easy to get at but tuck away nicely for a super clean look once you have everything together. Overall a great looking speaker with a great deal of thought put into their design.

Summary

While in a fairly narrow cabinet, the Klipsch WF-34 perform well for the size and deliver an excellent home theater experience. The horns are extremely efficient (95 1.2 db for 1 watt of power, 1 meter or 3 feet away).
