Apple iPod nano 16GB: Review
If you are yet to obtain yourself an iPod and bring your music collection into the digital age, the Apple iPod nano 16GB is a great place to start. It boasts 16gb of storage capacity which will allow you to load around 3,500 songs. Also new in this model is the capability for FM Radio playback with live pause functionality to ensure you don't miss any tunes.

Apple continue to lead the way with their iPod range in the digital mobile music player genre, the Nano just builds upon this great success, with some new features thrown in. Video Camera and photo capabilities come built in to the unit, as does the pedometer functionality which is useful for workouts when combined with Nike sports kit accessories. Cover flow is available with the Nano to give you a more overall album collection view of your music. The Nano 16gb comes in nine aluminum finish colors.

Rating:  4.8 out of 5

Features

The 2.2 inch display gives 240 by 376 pixel resolution with the in built video camera being able to shoot in H.264 VGA video in resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels. The 16gb capacity is provided by the inbuilt flash drive increasing the speed at which data can be accessed. Battery life has also had a small increase with up to 24 hours of music playback now possible or five hours of video playback. The included software can be installed on Windows or Mac OSX

Ergonomics

Design of the iPod is what has made it so successful and the Nano designs have come along quite nicely to reach the point they are now at in the new 16gb models. Nano now comes in nine colors with a polished aluminum finish to help your iPod stand out. It is only 0.24 inches deep and weighs less than 1.3ounces, meaning its unlikely to ever feel heavy or cumbersome when you are on the move. As with other iPod models, the interface is intuitive and the click wheel is a breeze to operate once you have the hang of it.

Summary

There is not much sense in looking anywhere else for a digital music player when price, features and design are taken care of by one particular company. There may come a time when other companies are able to eclipse the offerings that Apple gives, that time isn't now. A 16gb iPod Nano is a worthwhile purchase and will serve your mobile music playing needs for many years to come.
