Samsung 2333SW: Review
Review: Samsung 2333SW

The Samsung 2333SW is a 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor. With a rich, shiny black piano finish and a clear acrylic accent bar, this monitor is eye-catching as well as functional. The integrated cable housing helps provide a clean, sophisticated look for this monitor. This monitor has full 1920x1080 HD resolution and exclusive Samsung picture technologies.

This monitor has a dynamic contrast ratio of 20000:1. It provides a 16:9 aspect ratio and has a response time of 5ms. This monitor also offers a one-touch access to the picture optimization function. The stylish monitor is not one you want to hide in a back room, but one you would want to proudly display

Rating:  4.6 out of 5

Quality

The monitor is well made - sturdy, sleek and functional. The monitor feels solid, sitting on the base. This monitor needs to be installed on the base, which can feel a little harrowing. But once installed, the monitor is very sturdy. The Samsung Magic technology provides brilliant color, very natural and rich. The images are clean and sharp. Excellent blacks and color saturation, with no colors bleeding through or flaws.

Features

The 1920x1080 pixel resolution is great for HD content. This is a great option for Blu-ray technology, as the picture is sharp and clear. The DVI-D input with HDCP allows the monitor to play the encoded HD content that Blu-ray uses. The monitor has a VGA input as well. The monitor has a 170-degree viewing angle. This monitor doesn't have an HDMI connection. The side buttons on the monitor are all the same size and shape, which makes it a bit awkward to navigate through them by touch. The menus are logically laid out and easy to navigate, but this is offset by the sameness of the buttons.

Performance

The monitor has excellent display characteristics, whether you're playing games, video, or simply looking at images. At full brightness, there is a washed out look to the screen, but that can be tempered by toning down the brightness a bit. In HD mode, the text tends to twitch a bit, but changing the frequency a little bit can cure that.

Summary

This monitor looks great and performs very well. After the initial set up, getting the monitor installed on the base (unless you are going to hang it), it sits very sturdily on the desk. The black color is sleek and the design is sophisticated. The monitor is easy to set up and the picture resolution is perfect for full HD viewing. A great value for a monitor made by a company with a good reputation.

Pros

  • Great for watching movies
  • Clear, crisp images
  • HD resolution 1920x1080
  • Sleek, sophisticated design

Cons

  • Difficult initial assembly
