HP Mini 1010NR Netbook: Review
Review: HP Mini 1010NR Netbook

The HP Mini 1010NR Netbook (FT315UA#ABA) is your "new personal companion". This Netbook is designed to take with you everywhere; it measures 10.3 inches wide, 6.6 inches deep and a height of 1.0 inch. When working on your HP Netbook you will have an 8.9-inch BrightView Widescreen display that has a optimal resolution of 1024 x 600 (WSVGA). For performance HP used an Intel Atom N270 processor running at 1.6 GHz and 512MB of RAM which is upgradeable to 2GB.

This HP Mini 1010 NR Netbook comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3. To store all your important data HP decided to use an 8GB SSD (Solid State Drive). If you find that the 8GB SSD is not enough, HP has included an HP USB Digital Drive which will allow you to insert a SD memory card (not included) to increase your storage capacity. To help you keep in touch with your family and friends this HP Netbook has a built-in Webcam.

Rating:  4.6 out of 5

Value

The HP Mini 1010 NR Netbook runs Windows XP and does everything you might want done on the go - web surfing, email, listening to music and watching movies. This is a quality product that may look like a toy, but performs your simple everyday tasks with little or no complaints. If you are looking for a reliable Netbook to travel with or even an additional small Netbook for home use, this machine will meet all of your computing needs.

Features

The battery life for this little Netbook is surprisingly strong, more than three hours on a charge. The body of the computer is tiny and lightweight, easy to take anywhere. The keyboard takes a little getting used to but overall the HP Mini 1010 NR Netbook runs Windows XP like a champ and does everything you could ask it to. Not having an optical drive can be a pain, but ultimately this is a workable problem.

As far has pre-loaded software, HP has included Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Works, HP Total Care Advisor, Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition (60 days trial), HP Help and Support Center and finally HP Recovery Manager.

Summary

If you're looking for a companion to your desktop or a small Netbook to take when you travel, this is the netbook for you. It's lightweight, portable, stylish and sleek. It enables you to keep connected on the go - in the airport, in the car, in the carpool line - it can go anywhere you are. It's got the HP name, and that means reliability and dependability.
