Klipsch Heresy III: Review
The Klipsch Heresy III loudspeaker, a member of the Klipsch Heritage line of speaker products, is a replacement for the Heresy II loudspeaker, first produced in 1985. The Heresy III features a more powerful woofer, a bi-wire network and a titanium diaphragm tweeter with a larger magnet assembly.

This loudspeaker features a 3-way design using a horn-loaded titanium diaphragm midrange and a direct radiating 12-inch woofer. The Frequency response is 58Hz-20KHz, power handling is 100 W (400W max continuous) and sensitivity is 99dB, 3dB higher than the Heresy II. The Heresy III has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and uses crossover frequencies of 850Hz (low frequency) and 5000Hz (high frequency). The unit uses a sealed enclosure available in walnut, cherry or black lacquer finishes and are handmade in the United States and built to order.

Rating:  5.0 out of 5

Value

This loudspeaker actually represents a good value for a Klipsch speaker. You get Klipsch quality and performance at a mid-range price. The speakers are custom made and sold only in pairs. The speakers are a reasonable size - 23.81 x 15.5 x 13.25 inches to allow for versatile placement. They come with a riser stand for floor placement which can be removed for cabinet installations. They make excellent stereo or front surround speakers for a mid-range system.

Performance

The Heresy III loudspeakers deliver more performance than one would expect from their size. The sound is room filling, with deep, rich bass and crisp, clear highs. Even though they won't break the bank, you still get Klipsch sound at a reasonable price. The frequency response is excellent and they are very efficient - you won't need much power to get a lot of sound. It took Klipsch over 20 years to update these speakers, but the wait was worth it.

Summary

For those who regularly read our reviews, it won't come as a surprise that we love Klipsch speakers. If you're building a mid-priced stereo or surround system, definitely give the Heresy III's a listen. They deliver outstanding performance at a very reasonable price. The availability of finishes and the removable floor stand make them easy to incorporate into most any room, and they are efficient enough to drive with most any good mid-range receiver or amplifier.
