Epson Stylus NX115 All-in-One Printer: Review

The Epson Stylus NX115 All-in-One Printer can print, scan and copy documents as well as print quality photos. It uses a 4-color ink system with separate cartridges for each color and can print at speeds of up to 30ppm black. The printer has a maximum print resolution of up to 5760x1440 optimized dpi, a hardware scan resolution of 600x1200dpi and a laser quality print speed of up to 3ppm black.

The unit features one-touch color or black and white copying, can make draft or normal copies and can scan directly to JPEG or PDF file. The printer has a capacity of 80 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of Epson photo paper. Color print speeds are 15ppm normal and 1.6ppm laser quality. The printer has a high-speed USB 2.0 interface and features instant-dry ink for smudge-free documents and photos.

Value

The NX115 represents an excellent value in a personal printer at the street price. While it doesn't feature a network interface, it has impressive performance statistics. The black and color print speeds are excellent for a personal printer, and the hardware scan resolution is sufficient for scanning and copying both photos and documents. And the four color ink system with higher capacity black ink cartridge will save on the cost of ink for most users.

Performance

The performance numbers for the NX115 are acceptable when compared to the competition. Print quality is excellent all-around, with realistic photo printing and clean, crisp text. Laser quality printing speeds are a bit slow, but the quality is excellent. The one-touch copy feature works for both color and black and white, and the unit features one-touch scanning as well. Setup is quick and easy, and the included software is easy to install and use.

If you're in the market for a new personal printer, the NX115 makes an excellent choice. It's compact enough for desk use, and has all the features you're likely to need in an all-in-one personal printing device. The one-touch copy feature is very convenient and software makes manual double-sided printing a breeze. All in all a very good offering from Epson.
