The HP Officejet 6000 Wireless Printer is a new Wifi color inkjet printer from HP. It offers print speeds of up to 32ppm black and 32ppm color in draft mode and 7ppm for color and black and white in laser quality mode. Designed for use in a shared home or small office environment, the unit has a duty cycle of 7,000 pages per month. The Officejet 6000 features USB, 802.11 wireless Ethernet and wired Ethernet interfaces. The paper input tray can hold up to 250 sheets, and the unit features automatic two-sided printing. The printer uses a 4-color ink system, with separate cartridges for each color. High-capacity cartridges are available for all 4 colors. Black and white print resolution is up to 600 dpi, while color photo resolution is up to 4800x1200 optimized dpi.
ValueThe Officejet 600 is a bit pricey when compared to most of the competition, but the build quality is probably better than most. The 7,000 page per month duty cycle is excellent, and the unit should be able to handle a medium to heavy office workload. There's not a lot of features offered here, so this printer is clearly designed to be a shared office workhorse. The 4-cartridge ink system should help save on ink costs, especially with the availability of high capacity cartridges. You'll pay a bit more for this unit, but the stated duty cycle means that it will probably last longer under heavy use.
