Features

The Premium Fax has all the features you're likely to need in a shared family or home or small office environment. It's built well enough to handle a heavy workload, and has print speeds to match. The built-in fax and scanner mean that's it's a true all-around office product, as does the lab quality photo printing. There's a built-in 2.4" LCD display and memory card slots for printing photos without a PC, and the Ethernet and Wifi connection make it easy to use the unit in a shared environment.

Performance

The Premium Fax delivers excellent performance, with lab quality photo printing and crisp, clear documents. It uses a 4-color ink system with separate cartridges for each color, and a high-capacity black ink cartridge is available. Print speeds are as good as most of the competition for documents, but photo printing is a bit on the slow side. Faxing, copying and photo printing can all be done directly from the unit without a PC. Given its print speeds and build quality, the unit should stand up well to a medium duty workload in a home or small office environment.

Summary

If you're in the market for a shared printer for the whole family, or for a small or home office, the HP Premium Fax should make a good choice. It costs a bit more than some of the competition, but delivers excellent performance and comes with HP quality. And it has more connectivity options than most of the competition. All in all a very good offering from HP.
