Onkyo CS-325: Review
If you want the best value in a stereo system for your money, then consider the Onkyo CS-325 CD Receiver system. Although it cannot beat more expensive Denon systems, this model is still an excellent alternative that reproduces rich sounds. If you are on a budget and want a high-quality CD receiver system, then this is the system to consider. With only a few minor flaws, the Onkyo CS-325 is highly recommended for even the most audiophile consumers.

In this system, the receiver measures 8 1/16 x 4 9/16 x 14 7/16 and weighs 9.3 pounds. The speakers measure 6 5/16 x 10 7/8 x 10 11/16 and weigh 32.6 pounds. The CD receiver comes with a variety of presets, including those for AM/FM radio, but this unit is best known for its sound rather than features. Thanks to exclusive WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology), the Onkyo CS-325 produces incredibly accurate sounds. Because of this, we recommend this model as one of the best mini audio systems currently available on the market.

Rating:  4.2 out of 5

Quality

Considering the size and price of this unit, it is surprisingly well-built and perfect for the home. Although this system is a little larger than other available mini units, the size is worth the space. The speakers individually produce rich, clear sounds even at low frequencies, although you can achieve a better bass effect by attaching a subwoofer to the subwoofer pre-out plug. If you want to enhance your listening experience even further, you can purchase an optional iPod dock.

Value

Of course, the audio quality is not as good as that of units costing hundreds or thousands of dollars more, but considering the price- the Onkyo CS-325 reigns supreme. Setup is a breeze, which is a relief from more sophisticated mini systems, and users can configure the receiver to use with other speakers as well. The peak of value is achieved when the price is compared to the quality of this product. Very few others come even close to the price-to-quality ratio of this model.

Summary

If you need a sleek, simple CD receiver that produces excellent sound for half the price of some competitors, then definitely consider the Onkyo CS-325. Not only is it easy to setup and use, but it also has room to expand with a subwoofer or other speakers. Although it lacks a USB port and other vital ports, the purpose of this device is to provide consumers with a single CD receiver that is capable of producing superb sound. If you want quality over features but don't want to spend a fortune, then perhaps the Onkyo CS-325 CD Receiver system is right for you.

  • Price- perhaps the best-valued mini system on the market
  • Bulky- system is larger than others, but worth the space
