Olympus E-600: Review
Olympus E-600 review:

Hobbyists and amateur photographers alike will take notice of the Olympus E-600 Digital SLR, which moves beneath the E-620 to take the entry-level position in Olympus' camera line-up. This ultra-creative camera is the perfect fit for anybody who doesn't want to pay thousands of dollars for a digital camera. If you are ready to upgrade from a traditional high-end digital camera to a more-accurate digital SLR, perhaps the Olympus E-600 should be your first choice.

This super-compact camera measures 5.11 x 3.7 x 2.36 inches and weighs a little more than a pound, which is great for consumers who hate lugging around a bulky, heavy camera. Some notable features on this camera are the three built-in art filters, autofocus live view, wireless flash control, and more. It takes snapshots at 12.3-megapixels, which surpasses the majority of competing entry-level digital SLRs. This model also features advanced burst-shooting so you can be sure to get a perfect picture every time.

Rating:  4.2 out of 5

Value

You can find other entry-level Digital SLR's for the price, but very few have as many features and enhancing technologies as this one. It comes with dual-memory card slots so you can use both your CF or xD cards. Plus the 4/3 system allows the camera to be smaller and lighter in weight. In reality, the Olympus E-600 Digital SLR has both the performance and features of a mid-range DSLR, but for a lower price.

Features

In addition to the capabilities already mentioned, this model features the TruePic III+ Image Processor for bringing the best out of your pictures. It also comes with 5 shooting modes, 13 Scene-Select modes, automatic pixel mapping, face detection (up to 8), and automatic in-body image stabilization. Perhaps one of the most attractive things about this camera is that it incorporates some of the professional-level features into a consumer-level model. The high-performance, high-quality enhancements are also lucrative, especially for families who have many road trips, family parties, and little league games to go to.

Summary

If you want an inexpensive entry-level digital SLR, you can find cameras close to this one. But when you choose an inexpensive model, usually you lose great features and quality. The Olympus E-600 packs many of the high-end features into an entry-level camera. It doesn't sacrifice photo quality or shooting performance either, and seeing as it is within all DSLR budgets, it certainly is worth the investment. Needless to say, the Olympus E-600 digital SLR is perfect for hobbyists or amateurs who want a jumpstart in the advanced DSLR camera market.
