Definitive Technology Mythos ST : Review
If you are ready to eliminate those old bulky surround sound speakers, then consider the Definitive Technology Mythos ST. The ultra-performance supertower provides advanced audio quality and clarity, making it every audiophile's dream. Though expensive, this loudspeaker gives you the best quality in two-channel sound and makes your home theater truly symphonic. This parabolic-formed speaker is designed out of pure aluminum and carbon-fiber to enhance audio quality, and features a built-in 300W subwoofer for added bass support. This product is the definition of sound ultra-performance.

Measuring at just 51-1/2" x 9-1/2" x 6-3/4" and weighing 80 pounds, this hefty supertower may intimidate some consumers. Needless to say, it is designed as a speaker system replacement, and it does an excellent job doing just that. It features one 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter, two 5-1/4" BDSS midrange drivers, and one 6" x 10" long-throw racetrack subwoofer pressure coupled to two 6" x 10" long-throw racetrack radiators. If you are looking for the best quality and performance in a single-speaker configuration, then look no further than the Definitive Technology Mythos ST.

Quality

A true audiophile can appreciate the superb quality and performance of this loudspeaker. The incredibly-expensive price tag will daunt some consumers, but this model is worth every penny. Audio is crystal-clear, and bass frequencies are enhanced by the built-in subwoofer. If you want the best all-in-one speaker package, this is definitely the one to choose. Although the listening range is somewhat limited, this speaker will never cease to amaze you. Definitive Technology has come a long way in developing ultra-quality audio devices, and this product is another great feat.

Value

The first thing most consumers will notice about this loudspeaker is its incredibly-expensive price. If you are genuinely concerned about your budget, you can choose a multi-speaker surround sound system over this one. But if price doesn't matter, or you want a true ultra-quality audio system, then consider the Definitive Technology Mythos ST. It is an excellent replacement for old systems and especially useful if your home theater room is cramped and lacks space. Despite the high price, we consider high quality a very good value.

Summary

If you have room for a multi-speaker surround sound system, you may want to shop around first. For the price of this model, you can find very good multichannel devices. This loudspeaker is somewhat limited in range because it is a single, two-channel audio device. But if you are an audiophile who wants the best audio quality available from a single-speaker configuration, then consider the Definitive Technology Mythos ST. You will soon find that the ultra-high quality and performance makes it worth every penny.

Pros

  • Superior- breathtaking audio quality and performance
  • Powerful- built-in 300W subwoofer eliminates need for extra device
  • Intimidating- ergonomic but heavy supertower replaces multi-speakers
  • Expensive- price may deter some, but true audiophiles understand
