Through the use of the manual switch on the back of the drive your mode can be selected between RAID 0, for maximum storage or SAFE for Raid 1 which gives better protection through automatic disk mirroring. The unit has hot-swappable functionality which means easier maintenance of the drive should one of the disks happen to fail. This external drive also has Wake-on LAN activity features that will bring the drive out of standby mode once any network traffic is detected.
