The Logitech Harmony 700 Advanced universal remote control is a new full-featured, reasonably-priced universal remote control device from Logitech. It features convenient online setup and programming (requires connection to computer) and a color LCD display with icons for your favorite channels as well as commands for the device you're using.

The Harmony 700 also features easily-programmed one-click activity buttons, can control up to 6 devices, and incorporates an intuitive design with back-lit buttons that are grouped how you use them. The unit is rechargeable, so you won't spend a lot of time and expense changing batteries. In addition, on-screen help is available for any menu in the device. The online database of device codes is updated continuously, so you won't have to worry about it working with new devices that you buy.

Value

At its current street price, the Logitech Harmony 700 represents a good value for the money in a full-featured universal remote. The color LCD screen and online setup make the unit a breeze to program and use with your devices, and the keypad has direct buttons for the most often used commands. Anything else can easily be accessed from the on-screen menus. And it greatly simplifies your A/V life, since it can replace up to 6 devices.

Performance

The Harmony 700 delivers excellent performance in a universal remote. The bright, color LCD display adds greatly to its ease of use, and the online setup works exceptionally well. The menu layout as well as the buttons are ergonomically designed, and the device is very easy to use despite being very powerful. The device connects conveniently to your computer via USB cable for setup and programming. The one-click activity buttons are an added plus.

Summary

The Harmony 700 is a very powerful device, and at its street price it makes a very good choice in a universal remote control. The guided online programming and setup take a lot of the hassle out of programming, unlike some of the other, manually programmed competition. The color display, backlit buttons, and on-screen help add to the usability of the device. All in all a very good offering from Logitech.
