Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer: Review
Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer : Review

The Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer is a truly versatile new printer from Canon, with built-in wireless connectivity and printing of brilliant photos up to 8.5" x 11". It also features built-in 2-sided printing for savings on paper, 5 individual ink tank system and direct printing from common memory card formats and USB flash drives.

The unit features 9600 x 2400 color resolution, a 2.0" color LCD, so you can easily view, edit and print your photos without a PC, and Auto Photo Fix II for easy automatic optimization of photos. Other features include auto scan mode, which automatically detects the type of document you are scanning and saves it with the appropriate settings and 2-way paper loading, which lets you load paper from the front cassette or the rear tray - this allows you to switch from document to photo printing without changing paper.

Rating:  3.6 out of 5

Value

The PIXMA MP560 is available at a very reasonable street price, making it a good value for a full-featured all-in-one unit. Whether you use it to scan, copy, print documents or photos, the unit produces high-quality output. The two-sided printing and separate black and color ink cartridges save on consumables, too. And besides being able to print directly from memory cards or USB flash drive, the unit is PictBridge compatible for printing directly from any PictBridge compatible digital camera.

Features

The PIXMA MP560 has an excellent feature set. The only thing lacking is a modem for direct fax capability, but then this printer is designed more for home use than business needs. The photo printing quality is excellent, and the Wi-fi connectivity make for easy setup and use as a shared printer. Scan resolution is also excellent, so copying color photos produces high quality results. And the built-in color LCD makes settings a breeze and allows for viewing, editing and printing of photos without a PC.

Summary

The PIXMA MP560 is a good value if you're in the market for a full-featured all-in-one printer. It's easily networked, and equally at home whether printing photos or documents or scanning and copying. Performance is above average in this price range, and the unit should help save on consumables. All in all a very good offering from Canon.

Pros

  • Built-in two sided printing
  • 9600 x 2400 color print resolution
  • 5 individual ink tank system
  • Wireless connectivity

Cons

  • Lacks a modem for direct fax capability
