Sony PS-LX350H manual stereo turntable review

Sony PS-LX350H manual stereo turntable review
If you want to turn back time and be able to play your vinyl records on a high-quality manual turntable, then consider getting the Sony PS-LX350H Manual Stereo Turntable. This black finish record player features a variety of enhancements, such as a 10-/10+ pitch control, to satisfy those who like to make needle-size adjustments to their vinyl-playing experience. An S-shaped Tonearm keeps the cartridge in an optimal line, while the fully-sized aluminum platter provides better stability.

Measuring approximately 17.67" x 5.67" x 13.75" and weighing 14.3 pounds, the Sony PS-LX350H is a great device to add to your collection of home entertainment electronics. It isn't the most perfect turntable, but a manual turntable in this price range is difficult to find. To make cuing easier, this model also features a strobe control. And unlike many of the turntables of yesteryear, this one comes with stereo outputs (RCA left and right plugs).

Rating:  3.8 out of 5

Value

As mentioned before, this turntable is capable of being fully-manual, but unlike standard "DJ" turntables it costs a little less and rids itself of the fancier features. The majority of consumers who have purchased this model have given thumbs-ups in regards to the overall audio quality and device performance; however, for some users, the performance does suffer. Because of that, you may want to review other turntables before deciding upon this one.

Performance

Many consumers claim that belt-driven turntables tend to drift in regards to speed, and a common complaint with this model is that the speed varies on different LP tracks. This turntable comes with two modes for playing your vinyls- 33 1/3rpm and 45rpm. Both seem to operate smoothly, but again, several consumers complain that the tracking is off at times. Needless to say, the general consensus is that this Sony produces crisp and accurate sounds.

Summary

Although digital technology has far overwhelmed analog devices, there are a select few audiophiles who prefer to listen to their old LPs. Sony has made this a modern day option by releasing the Sony PSLX350H Stereo Turntable System. The audio quality seems to be just right for the price, though performance varies to a substandard level for some users. The price tag is not a major issue, but if the reported irregularities have you spooked, consider one of the other turntables.

Pros

  • Smooth- provides consumers with accurate audio quality
  • Simple- no confusing features to annoy old school listeners
  • Speed- 33 1/3rpm and 45rpm modes, performance varies at times
  • Skate-free- modern anti-skate system operates to ensure solid playback
  • Systematic- priced similar to many other turntables, so always compare
