Asus Eee PC Netbook 1005HAB-RBLU001X: Review

One of the best netbooks for the price you will find is the midnight blue Asus Eee PC Netbook 1005HAB-RBLU001X, which features Windows XP stability and great WiFi without sacrificing battery life. What makes this ultraportable stand out among the rest is that it has everything competing netbooks has, yet it costs less and generally has a longer battery life. Another extra bonus is the Wireless-N support- something that netbooks in this price range simply can beat.

At just 7" x 1.4" x 10.3" and 2.4 lbs, the Asus Eee PC Netbook is about the same size as all other netbooks but weighs slightly less than several HP models. This 10.1" ultraportable also has nearly identical technical specifications, including the Intel Atom processor and Windows XP SP3 operating system. For the price, this model is virtually unbeatable versus current market offerings. If you want a good, all-around netbook that won't hurt your bank account, then look no further. This Asus Eee PC Netbook offers a good balance of features, performance, and price.

Rating:  4.8 out of 5

Value

Even from an objective view of netbooks, one cannot deny that the Asus Eee PC Netbook offers more features and better battery life than similarly-priced competitors' netbooks. Among others, even HP offers a high-valued, low-price netbook; however, Asus managed to bring their price even lower. The reason this model is so popular is that it is cheap, yet it does not skimp on the features or quality of battery life. If that's what you want in a netbook, then consider this one.

Features

Powered by an 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor with 1GB DDR2 RAM (expandable to 2GB), this netbook seems to run quite smoothly for browsing and other small tasks. This model comes with Ethernet for wired networking and 802.11b/g/n for wireless- perfect for on the go. And with the newest standard of Wireless-N, you can log onto the newest networks. For storage, the Eee PC Netbook features a 160GB hard drive, which has become common in netbooks. Other features include an integrated webcam, digital memory card reader, and more.

Summary

Although there are several netbooks on the market with over 9 hours battery life, it is difficult to find one for less than the price of a budget laptop. With all the features of a standard netbook (plus more, like wireless-N) and a battery life of over 4 hours, this model is the perfect companion for a frequent traveler or student on a budget. The Asus Eee PC Netbook offers both features and battery life at a very low and reasonable price.

Pros

  • Excellent value- price that is hard to beat
  • Great features- unique extras such as Wireless-N support
  • Good battery life- not the best, but over 4 hours is still good
  • Compact and lightweight- great for the frequent traveler or student
  • Consumer-friendly- ease of use and few flaws leaves the user happy

Cons

  • There are no cons for this product
