If you're looking for a lightweight, compact, waterproof and fogproof set of binoculars, the new Canon 7 x 42 AWP binoculars make a good choice. Featuring a 7-degree angle of view, 7X magnification and a 42mm objective lens, these binoculars use fully multicoated optics and have aspherical lens elements. They feature a pupil-to-pupil adjustment range of 59-73mm, and helicoid eyecups.

The 7 x 42 AWPs also feature a phase-correction coated roof prism, a smooth grip, and have nitrogen-filled barrels to remain fogproof. The exit pupil diameter is 6mm, the eye relief is 17mm and the closest focusing distance is 13.1 feet. The binoculars measure 5.0" x 6.0" x 2.0" and weigh in at 26.5 ounces.

The 7 x 42 AWP binoculars provide Canon's superior build quality, excellent optics and rugged construction, all at a very reasonable price. These binoculars are an excellent value when compared to similar models from the competition. The waterproof and fogproof construction make them ideal for bird-watching, which is the primary intended use of this model. They make excellent all-around binoculars as well.

Performance

These binoculars provide an exceptionally bright image with low distortion and sharp, high contrast viewing even at the edges. There's plenty of adjustment to fit them to your eyes, and the fogproof and waterproof construction means they can be used in all kinds of weather conditions. The smooth grips are easy on the hands, and the shape gives the binoculars a solid, well built feel.

If you're a bird watcher or deer hunter, or you just need a good pair of compact general-purpose binoculars, the Canon 7 x 42 AWP deserves a look.
