The canon-eos-1v is Canon's last model in the highly successful EOS-1 line of professional film cameras. The EOS-1v continues to be the fastest 35mm film SLR available, with continuous shooting speeds up to 10fps and continuous servo AF up to 9fps for tracking moving subjects. Other features include a 45-point AF system, 100% viewfinder coverage and a top shutter speed of 1/8000 second. In addition, the EOS-1v features 21-zone evaluative metering, E-TTL auto flash, full-time depth of field preview and a shutter that has been tested to 150,000 cycles. It is constructed using a rubber-covered magnesium alloy body on a hybrid chassis and 72 individual gaskets for dust and moisture resistance. It features a standard EOS-1 control layout, six exposure modes and six metering modes.
ValueThe EOS-1v is still available from Canon at a very reasonable price for a pro camera. The widespread acceptance of digital SLRs has brought down the price on 35mm film SLRs considerably, and the EOS-1v is no exception. Even in today's world of feature-rich digital SLRs, the EOS-1v stacks up well in features and performance if you choose to shoot with film. There aren't many reasons that come to mind to use film nowadays, but for some people there is still a reward to be found in the creative experience provided by a film camera in the darkroom. ErgonomicsOne of the most sought after features in the EOS-1 series is the user-friendly control layout, and the EOS-1v continues that tradition. In addition, it is a solid weight to hold on to and fairly large in size. Given its truly pro build quality, this makes for an excellent combination. The rubber-covered magnesium alloy body provides a solid grip for one- or two-handed operation, and the control layout is designed to naturally match your fingers when gripping the camera. SummaryIf you still choose to shoot with film, the EOS-1v is a definite high end choice. It's a pro-quality camera without the pro quality price. Performance is above par with some of today's speedy digital SLRs, and the build quality is top notch. The long-life shutter and moisture and dust resistance add up to a camera that can provide many years of enjoyment. Pros
