Far too many times has a DLSR been overpriced or lacking in features and quality, but that is certainly not the case with the Canon EOS T2i EF-S 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera. Winner of the PC Magazine Service & Reliability Award, this camera offers high-end functionality at a mid-range price. If you are ready to enter the world of Digital SLRs or just upgrade your camera to a newer model, then one of your first choices should be to consider this Canon. With dimensions measuring 5.1 x 3.8 x 3.0 inches, the Canon EOS T2i is fairly compact and only weighs 18.7 ounces. Some new features that are noticeable right away are the 3-inch LCD display and the included EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Although this camera has a few flaws, for the most part it is an excellent value and a tough competitor on the ever-expanding DSLR market. If you want a balance of features and performance in both stills and video, but you do not want to spend more than $1000 for a digital SLR, then by all means this is the camera for you.
QualityOne of the strengths of this camera is its picture quality, which is good for the price. Needless to say, it is not without its downsides. This particular model lacks a full-frame sensor that is common on other DSLR's like the Canon 5D Mark II. Because of the APS-C sensor, there is a crop factor that restrains the ability to stay true to the lens focal. White balance also seems to be a little off compared to other models, so manual adjustment may be required. PerformanceLow-light performance is generally better than expected, and thanks to SDXC memory card compatibility you can hold more pictures than ever. But if you want even better pictures, we recommend upgrading from the stock lens to something more advanced. Video recording is much better than expected, with capabilities reaching 1080p HD and higher frame rates than the predecessor. Audio performance is also improved, and there is even a microphone input for external devices. SummaryThe Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital-SLR camera almost has too many features to list, with a 18-megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor for high image quality and speed, ISO of 100-6400 (expandable to 12800), enhanced 63-zone, dual-layer metering system, and improved EOS Movie mode. While it still has a few minor flaws, such as questionable white balance, for the most part it is a very good DSLR with excellent features and capabilities. And for the price, well, it is almost impossible to beat. Pros
