If you are looking for a compact photo printer, that has the versatility to also be a digital photo frame, then the Epson PictureMate Show Digital Frame / Compact Photo Printer PM 300 will slot right in. This 2-in-1 digital frame and photo printer has a 7inch WVGA tilt screen giving picture visibility on the front, while concealing the printer output if desired. Access to the digital frame menu functionality is available through the Infrared remote control, and 12 individual slideshow settings are available. The entire unit weighs 5.7lbs, measures 7.5inches wide, 6.3inches high, and 9inch deep when stored. This expands to 12.4inch wide when in printing mode so it will need a little flexibility in its storage location. The PM300 can be easily transported around with the handle that is located on the top, and Epson have included a one year limited warranty.
FeaturesPrinting resolution is supported up to 5760x1440 dpi and a 4 color dye is used for the Ink type. Nozzle configuration of the printer measure 90 nozzles x 40 producing a 2 picoliter ink droplet size, and the use of Epson's Advanced MicroPiezo technology gives a more optimized photo print. There is 270MB of internal memory available as well as support for standard memory cards such as CompactFlash, SD, SDHC and XD, with PictBridge and optional Bluetooth photo printing also available. Connection with your PC or MAC is made through the USB connection, and this can also be used for attachment of a CD-R/RW drive. PerformancePrinting speed of a standard 4inch by 6inch photo is completed in approximately 37 seconds with the PM300, which is slower than a dedicated photo printer, but on par with other compact photo printers. The digital photo frame produces bright images on the 7inch widescreen frame that also doubles as an editing and preview monitor for quick photo correction on the fly. The paper input tray can hold up to 20 sheets of photo paper, less than a stand alone printer but fitting in nicely with the compact design of the PM300. SummaryFor design style and value for money, the Epson PictureMate PM300 is not able to offer much to a potential consumer. The standard box style design offers no aesthetic value for a photo frame and better photo printing capabilities can be gained from a stand alone device, at a relatively lower cost. There are some features to like, but for what the PM300 is intended to be, it fails to tick the key boxes. Pros
