The Epson Stylus NX415 All-in-One Printer is the latest in Epson's excellent Stylus series of inkjet printers. Featuring printing, scanning and copying all in one unit, the NX415 can also save on paper by performing manual double-sided printing. The NX415 features a large 2.5-inch color LCD screen, built-in media card slots and PictBridge compatibility for printing directly from PictBridge compatible cameras. The unit features a 4-color ink system, print speeds of 34ppm for color and black and white in draft mode and 4.3ppm in laser quality mode. Using PictBridge or the built-in memory card slots, the printer can print borderless color photos without a PC. One touch scanning and copying is also possible, in addition to reduction or enlargement of copies from 25-400%. The unit features a hardware scanning resolution of up to 2400 dpi.
ValueEpson is currently offering this printer at a very good price, making it an excellent value in a personal printer. You'll have to look elsewhere for a shared or wireless printer, however, as this unit comes with only a USB 2.0 interface. The 4-color ink system can help you save money on ink costs, and the manual double-sided printing can save on paper. PC-free photo printing is a big plus too, and you can preview your photos on the built-in LCD. PerformancePrint speeds for the NX415 are quite good, although the laser quality output is a bit slow. Resolution is good, however, with a maximum print resolution of 5760x1440 optimized dpi. Scan resolution is also good, with a hardware scanning resolution of 2400dpi. Photo printing produces excellent results, with vibrant colors and smooth skin tones. The text output is crisp and clear, and the Durabrite Ultra pigment inks produce smudge, fade, water and highlighter resistant printouts. SummaryIf you're in the market for a new all-in-one personal printer, the NX415 makes a good choice. With the pricing currently being offered by Epson, it's an excellent value, and you should be able to save on ink and paper with this unit. Wifi or Ethernet would be nice, but you'll probably have to pay a bit more for these features. Pros
