Epson Stylus NX515 All-in-one Printer: Review

The Epson Stylus NX515 All-in-one Printer is a printer, scanner and copier with built-in Wifi and Ethernet ports for easy sharing. In addition, it also has a USB 2.0 port for personal printing. The unit features a 2.5-inch color LCD display, memory card slots for all popular memory card media, and PictBridge compatibility for printing photos directly from a PictBridge compatible camera.

The NX515 has a draft print speed of 36ppm color/black and a laser quality print speed of 15ppm black and 9.3ppm color. The unit uses a 4-color ink system and maximum print resolution is 5760x1440 optimized dpi. Maximum scanner resolution is 2400x2400 dpi, and the printer can produce one-touch scans and copies. It can also produce from 1-99 copies at a speed of 36cpm black/color. The NX515 can print photos of any size without using a PC.

Value

The NX515 represents an excellent value at the street price. The built-in Wifi and Ethernet connections mean that it can be easily shared in a home or small office environment, and the 4-color ink system should save money on the cost of ink. Manual two-sided printing helps save on the cost of paper as well. Print speeds are excellent for a printer in this price range, as are the copying speeds. Photo quality is excellent, and the scanner has a high enough resolution for making excellent copies of existing photos.

Features

The NX515 has all of the features you're likely to need in a shared printer for home or small office. While not up to the workload of the Epson WorkForce series, this is a medium-duty all-in-one that can maintain a fairly light workload. Print and copy speeds are fast enough to keep jobs from backing up, and the quality is excellent. And Epson's inkjet technology means that documents and photos are instantly dry and touchable.

Summary

If you're in the market for a shared all-in-one printer, the Epson NX515 is hard to beat. It also makes an excellent personal printer with the convenience of wireless hookup. It can print photos directly from all memory card formats presently in use, and can make standalone copies of documents and photos. All in all an excellent offering from Epson.
