Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD: Review
Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Review:

One of the premiere lightweight cameras that captures high-quality stills and also records HD video is the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD. Loaded with features and enhancements, this consumer-level point-and-shoot is perfect for the amateur photographer who wants something simple enough to operate, but sophisticated enough to customize. Although picture quality isn't the strongest point of the FinePix S2000HD, this camera still produces great prints. Whether up close or far away, it helps to bring your memories closer and clearer than before.

Excluding accessories and attachments, this model measures 4.4 x 3.1 x 3.0 inches and weighs 13 ounces. The FinePix S200HD is a little bulkier than similar cameras, but it is still compact and lightweight for its class. This model takes superb 10-megapixel pictures, although the quality is not as good as some consumers may hope for. Perhaps the best part of this camera, however, is the extraordinary 15x optical zoom, which is for it's time, more than most cameras in this category. If you need a good-quality camera that captures HD stills and video, close-up and far away, then consider the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD.

Rating:  3.6 out of 5

Value

For the price, this is a very good compact camera. Not only does it include features that are normally included only on more expensive models, but it also features HD video recording- not necessarily a must for the photographer, but still a nice plus. Thankfully, the FinePix S2000HD uses non-proprietary batteries (four AA), so you won't have to spend much on a replacement battery. Unfortunately, performance is slower than we hoped for. But if you're looking for something to make the most of your money, this is definitely a camera to consider.

Features

Fujifilm has recently increased the number of new features it includes in their cameras, and the FinePix S2000HD is no exception. Simple as it is, this camera can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming with the various features and shooting modes. As mentioned earlier, it is HD-compatible for both stills and video. Pictures are captured in 16:9 format (3,648 x 2,056 pixels, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels), and video is captured in resolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels (720p HD). This model features a 15x optical zoom, which is very impressive for a camera of this price range. To enhance your images, it includes Dual IS (image stabilization) technology and an intelligent flash.

Summary

Because it is loaded with various shooting modes and image-enhancing features such as face detection and Dual IS, the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD is definitely worth the money. Although the performance is a little lower than similar cameras, the excellent features and enhancements ensure that your stills and video are crisp and colorful. This model is not perfect, but it is great for consumers who need a compact, well-featured, long-lens digital camera. Overall, the FinePix S2000HD is only a little above average, but it is still a good value.

Pros

  • Value - offers features and capabilities normally seen in expensive models
  • Competitive- 15x optical zoom with Dual IS makes this model hard to beat
  • Versatile - captures high-resolution stills and high-definition video (720p)
  • Improvable - noticeable image noise, even with ultrasensitive ISO
  • Power- poor battery life, slow performance, subtle picture quality

Cons

  • There are no cons for this product
