Garmin nuvi 755T: Review
Garmin nuvi 755T review:

The Garmin nuvi 755T Portable GPS navigator is Garmin's latest entry into its highly successful nuvi series of personal navigational devices. The nuvi 755T is packed with features, including a bright 4.3 inch WQVGA screen with 480 x 272 pixel resolution and a white backlight. The unit comes preloaded with City Navigator NT road maps from Navteq for the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Other features include a POI Loader which allows proximity alerts for locations such as school zones and traffic cameras, Hotfix satellite prediction for fast acquisition when you turn the unit on and an integrated GTM 20 FM traffic receiver. The unit comes with free lifetime access to traffic updates from Navteq - with some models from the competition you have to pay a subscription fee for this service. The unit also features Lane Guidance, which gives you a visual view of upcoming lane interchanges so you can easily see which lane you need to be in.

Rating:  3.8 out of 5

Features

The nuvi 755T is packed with features. Besides those already mentioned, the unit features touch screen operation with plenty of space between buttons, thanks to the expansive screen. The unit also includes Where am I? And Where's my car? features. Where am I? shows the user their current latitude and longitude, the nearest intersection and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. Where's my car? shows the user the exact location of their car, as the unit remembers the location where it was last removed from its car mount.

Performance

The nuvi 755T also delivers excellent performance. Satellite acquisition time is best in class, with the built-in HotFix Satellite Prediction. This feature remembers satellite locations the last time it was turned off, and calculates their predicted position, thus decreasing acquisition time. The 3D building feature allows users to see buildings located on the map, and the unit features an MP3 player with audiobook playback.

Summary

If you're in the market for a full-featured personal navigation device, the nuvi 755T makes an excellent choice. It's surprisingly small and lightweight, yet has an large, very readable display. It has most of the features you're likely to need, and can be used as an auto device as well as an excellent walkaround GPS. All in all an excellent offering from Garmin, as they continue to be innovators with their nuvi series.
