HP Pavilion dv6-2190us :Review
The HP Pavilion dv6-2190us notebook comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM (upgradeable to 8GB), which will allow for an enhanced application response time. It is available in espresso black and has a 15.6 inch BrightView LED display for crisp picture display. The notebook is backed by HPs one year limited warranty and access to a 24 x 7 online or phone support network if any problems arise.

Connectivity is a plus for this notebook with the availability of four USB 2.0 ports, one of which is a shared port with the eSATA interface. eSATA will give faster access to external devices such as hard drives, though there is also the 1394 Firewire connection. The notebook comes with a Lightscribe SuperMulti 8x DVDR/RW drive, giving the flexibility to burn designs directly to the CD cover should you wish too.

Rating:  3.6 out of 5

Features

Windows 7 Home premium 64bit is pre installed in the Pavilion dv6-2190, as is a 60 day trial of Norton Internet security. Internally an Intel Core i7-720QM processor that has the added benefit of Turbo Boost technology to ramp the speed up to a 2.80GHz supports the notebook. Video graphics capability is provided by the Nvidia Geforce GT 230m and an Altec Lansing soundcard is also included for sound output. Wireless network connectivity is supported up to the 802.11n protocol, with the notebooks power requirements looked after by the 120W AC adapter and 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery.

Performance

For mobile performance, the Pavilion dv6-2190 may struggle unless you are near a power outlet. Given the increased memory and hard drive RPM, there is more demands on the battery that is included. On the up side, the inclusion of the higher speed hard drive means a better system response and with the 4GB of DDR3 memory that is included, the unit should run almost any everyday application that can be thrown at it. Graphics intense tasks such as video editing or gaming will function, but the integrated graphics card will mean that there is a limitation to what the system can do.

Summary

HP offers the Pavilion dv6-2190 at the right price, with the features included helping it shine as a great choice for a new laptop or possible desktop replacement. If you require a notebook that can handle some higher end 3D graphics related tasks, an upgrade to the video card should be considered. For everyday computing, this notebook should see to your needs.
