LG 22LG31: Review
If you are looking for a small, affordable flat screen HDTV, then consider the 22-Inch 720p LG 22LG31 LCD HDTV. It fits nicely in tight spaces and produces a spectacular picture without charging consumers with a hefty price tag. In fact, when taking into consideration the screen size, this is one of the most affordable 22-inch HDTVs available on the market. Although it lacks the features of higher models, if you are looking for a basic HDTV that will not intrude space, then consider the LG 22LG31 LCD HDTV.

Without the stand, this model measures 20.6" x 2.7" x 15.1" and weighs 11.9 lbs. The size and weight are fairly accurate as far as the screen size compared to other LCD models. This HDTV features 720p (1680 x 1050) resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio that automatically adjusts for DVDs meant for standard televisions. The backlight produces a dynamic contrast ratio of 5000:1 and has an average life of 60,000 hours. Overall, this HDTV is a good budget model for users who are tight on space. Although it needs more plugs and could use audio tweaking, it is still a great buy.

Rating:  3.6 out of 5

Value

Perhaps the best aspect of this product is its value, especially since it has a price that is much lower than similar competing models. Although LCDs are gradually becoming less expensive, HDTVs have features that add to the price tag- but such is not the case with the LG 22LG31. It comes with HDMI and other ports, as well as built-in ATSC and NTSC tuners. Although you could probably find a more full-featured model, the screen size and ergonomics of this model are tough to beat. It is an excellent value all-around.

Features

As far as picture clarity, this LG features video noise reduction as well as a digital MPEG noise reduction circuit. For sound, this HDTV comes with Dolby Digital SRS TruSurround XT integrated in two discrete stereo speakers. Although there is only one HDMI port, there are additional plugs including composite, component, audio-in, serial and RGB ports. Unfortunately, all connections must be plugged from the back, so this is a disadvantage for users who prefer some side ports. But for the price, we are pleased with the features overall.

Summary

Overall, the 22-Inch 720p LG 22LG31 LCD HDTV is a great addition to your bedroom, kitchen, or any other place where space is limited but size and quality are desired. This model is an excellent value as far as picture size and quality, and the features are just as enjoyable. The interface is basic and easy to use and works great for your DVDs and digital broadcasts. If you are willing to spend more money for more features, by all means do so; however, if you want the best screen size for the price, then consider the LG 22LG31 LCD HDTV.
