Monster Cable IDL100-1M: Review

The Monster Cable IDL100-1M digital coaxial cable is a 1 meter (3.3 ft.) Interlink Datalink low-loss S/PDIF style coaxial cable. It features an ultra high-density copper braided shield for maximum reduction of EM and RF interference, a structured matrix dielectric for maximum signal transfer speed and minimum energy loss.

The IDL 100 also features high purity copper stranding in the center conductor for clear signal transmission and patented Turbine RCA connectors which include 12 diagonal cuts and a split center pin for better contact and a firm fit. The Turbine connections also feature 24K gold plating and are bonded to the conductor using high silver content solder. The IDL100 is also available in 2 meter (6.6 feet) and 4 meter (13.2 feet) lengths.

Quality

The IDL 100 is constructed according to the usual high quality standards for Monster cables. The RCA plug is the best design in the industry, and the cable uses high quality materials throughout. You'll pay a bit more for these cables, but connection quality and freedom from interference are worth the price. Even the 4 meter version of this cable is virtually lossless and interference free. These factors are important when you are transferring up to 6 channels of audio information down a single path.

Ergonomics

The IDL100 scores well in the ergonomics category for a couple of reasons - the design of the RCA plug and its flexibility. The RCA jack's unique design makes sure it stays put, provides maximum signal transmission and fits well. Flexibility is a plus because some of the competition uses materials that are too rigid to produce their higher-end cables - the IDL100 is easy to route because it is more flexible. In addition, the cable just looks downright sexy.

If you want the best quality, least signal loss and least interference in its price class, the Monster IDL100 is for you. From the unique gold-plated RCA plug to the copper wire used for the center conductor, this cable is built to the highest possible standards.
