Sony VAIO SR Series VGN-SR590FAB: Review

Another affordable, power-packed solution to your computing needs is the Sony VAIO SR Series VGN-SR590FAB Notebook PC, which does just enough for the price. This 13.3" laptop can tackle virtually any task, whether it is for business or pleasure. Not only does it allow extreme multimedia experience via the ATI HD4570 graphics card, but it also operates in a secure state via the biometric fingerprint scanner and G-Sensorâ„¢ Shock Protection technology. If you prefer a nice balance between performance and price, then this is one notebook to take a good look at.

This notebook measures approximately 12.4" x 1.34" x 9.2" and weighs 4.39 pounds with a standard lithium-ion battery. Battery life can reach up to 6.5 hours using the factory-installed battery, but users who want extended performance may get the large capacity battery that allows for up to 9.5 hours. Aside from being fairly compact and lightweight, the VGN-SR590FAB comes with an array of features that will impress any consumer. If you are looking for a good high-end laptop that doesn't cost as much as a Mac, then consider this Sony VAIO SR Series notebook.

Rating:  4.2 out of 5

Quality

If you want a high-quality notebook, you will want to look at this VAIO. Each notebook in the VAIO series is backed by a long-running and trusted standard of manufacturing that makes each model unique from all other notebooks. Of course, as with every computer, there are annoyances, such as the useless "junk" software many of these notebooks come with. But if you don't mind the little flaws, then you will absolutely enjoy using this computer.

Features

Unlike the majority of similar laptops, this model actually includes Bluetooth in addition to the standard networking interfaces. The VGN-SR590FAB comes with 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, as well as Ethernet and an integrated V.92/V.90 modem for users who don't travel as much. This notebook is power-packed with a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor; in addition, it comes with a 320GB hard drive and 4GB RAM (8GB max). Although we have seen similarly- priced notebooks with a larger hard drive, this is a great multifunctional, multimedia computer for users of all sorts. Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) impresses in everyday computing, as does the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (with 512 RAM) in casual gaming or business graphics alike.

Summary

If you are a casual gamer or multimedia entertainment fanatic, this is certainly the notebook for you. Even the most average consumer or business user will appreciate the power and features that this model provides. And if you need something secure and protected, it has you covered on all bases. Although we have seen similar notebooks with a little more, for the price, the Sony VAIO SR Series VGN-SR590FAB is quite difficult to beat.
