Technics SL-1200MK2PK: Review
The quality of the Technics SL-1200MK2PK is unmatched in professional DJ environments, with manufacturer experience shining through to produce a turntable design that continues to lead the industry. The SL-1200MK2PK features a sturdy base construction that is vibration resistant to give a smooth sound quality regardless of the environment that it is used.

Mechanical precision is also where this turntable system outpaces competitor offerings. Its use of the Direct Drive motor and quartz movement for total accuracy provides reliable turntable operation. The top-up target light and sliding pitch control offer ease of use in low light situation, and where you need to operate quickly and efficiently. The turntable has adjustable tone arm weights and anti skate control as additional features to add to a list of functionality that will be found useful for any level of DJ.

Quality

Quality in the SL-1200MK2PK is outmatched with its Vibration resistant construction a key feature to producing quality, reliable sound. The die-cast aluminum body and heavy rubber base, when combined with a reduction in empty space within the construction of the turntable help the 1200MK2PK absorb any outside vibrations that could interrupt sound output. The Quartz Direct Drive motor system is manufactured to incorporate the spinning platter into the motor construction, reducing the parts required and giving a more quality design to the unit.

Performance

With an Ultra low speed motor and high torque of 1.5kg/cm, the SL-1200MK2PK can startup in approximately 0.7seconds. Turntable speeds of 33-1/3rpm and 45rpm are available to allow for maximum compatibility. There is an electronic braking system to enhance the accuracy of any stoppages that you want to include in your DJ set. The quartz locked pitch adjustment gives accurate pitch adjustments through all of its 16 percent (+/-8) range.

Summary

Technics feature in most high end DJ setups because the turntables are made up of quality design, by an experienced manufacturer. The SL-1200MK2PK continues that trend, and whilst it is at the expensive end of the market, the features and makeup of the unit justify the extra outlay.
