This TV offers 4 HDMI ports, 2 ColorStream HD component video inputs, a Dolby Digital output and a high resolution PC input. The TV also includes an ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuner, which allows users the option to view more than just basic cable. The 52XV540U also includes DynaLight Dynamic Back-Light Control technology which utilizes image processing. This allows the TV to monitor the brightness of each frame and adjust the backlight level creating a seamless transition between frames. Gamers will love this TV because it also offers a gaming mode. This mode reduces the time it takes for the signal to travel between your controller and the TV, allowing your prized character to live longer with no worries that your reaction time on screen will not be fast enough.
FeaturesThe 52XV540U offers more features than your average LCD. It offers users its ColorBurst Wide Color Gamut CCFL technology that expands the number of available colors, while improving color purity and saturation. Color accuracy is also improved which, when combined with above average video processing, can create colors that are more vibrant and natural which makes the viewing experience enjoyable. Toshiba also offers its PixelPure 4G 14-bit Internal Digital Video Processing which creates interpolated images that plays images at a frame rate of 120Hz. This feature is combined with the CineSpeed LCD panel that provides a response rate of 8ms or less which results in smooth picture movement. The PixelPure technology also takes advantage of a 14-bit video processor and 10 Bit display panel which allows it to reach 16,384 levels of gradation, which results in a smoother, more natural looking picture. The 52XV540U also offers Toshiba's ClearFrame 120HZ Anti-Blur technology. This technology nearly eliminates motion blur while sustaining image brightness while preventing image flicker. Images appear crisp and clear regardless of the motion. This feature also doubles the frame rate to 120 frames a second, or 120Hz. It also utilizes Motion Vector Frame Interpolation (MVFI) technology and with the assistance of the power from the PixelPure processor the MVFI inserts frames in between the original frames, making movement's smoother which makes your viewing experience more enjoyable. The movie buffs in the crowd will love the TheaterWide modes that the 52XV540U offers. These modes are good for displaying HDTV signals as well as enhanced widescreen DVDs. This feature offers three different modes. Mode 1 provides a letterbox image that digitally expands the image 33% horizontally and vertically which is good for displaying 1.85:1 formatted content. Mode 2 is a letterbox image that expands the image 33% horizontally and 42% vertically which comes in handy for viewing narrow letterbox images. The third mode is a letterbox image that expands the image 33% horizontally and 24% vertically which is good for those letterbox images that contain narrow bands at the top and the bottom of the screen. Lastly, the 52XV540U offers users its StableSound technology which eliminates the need to constantly change volume settings between your favorite TV show and commercials. This feature can control the fluctuations so you can enjoy your favorite TV Drama or mini-series without being startled by commercial breaks. PerformanceThe 52XV540U provides the quality picture and sound we have come to expect from Toshiba. Images are sharp and colors are handled well, which seems to make this TV stand out from the rest of the lineup. Regular TV watching is a pleasure on this TV as well, while standard and high definition movies perform quite well as well. Sound performance also does quite well. No problems with sound quality or level, but its great sound can always be improved by adding on a surround sound system to get the true movie theater experience.
