Toshiba fans will be interested to see the sleek Toshiba Satellite L505-GS6002, which is available exclusively at Best Buy. This 15.6" laptop features some of the latest technologies and enhancements, but there are a few disappointments that Toshiba possibly overlooked. Because the current notebook market is flooded with a barrage of laptops of all sizes, prices, and feature-levels, you will want to take careful consideration when looking at this model. Overall, it is a great notebook, but there are also many other great notebooks also available in the same price range. Measuring 15.1" x 1.6" x 10.2" and weighing approximately 6 pounds, this Satellite notebook is comfortable enough for any user, but unfortunately the glossy design makes it is a fingerprint and dust magnet. Powered by the latest mobile version of the Intel Core i3 processor, this mid-performance notebook focuses less on the fancy features of similar laptops and more on performance and reliability. If you don't mind not having Bluetooth or high-speed version of Ethernet (standard still featured), and you want a good value, then this is definitely a notebook to consider.
FeaturesThe most noticeable downside to the Toshiba Satellite L505-GS6002 is that it lacks a modem (virtually obsolete), high-speed version of Ethernet, and Bluetooth compatibility. There are several competing notebooks in the same price range that do include these missing enhancements. Needless to say this Toshiba's other features help counterbalance the negatives. For instance, there is a 320GB hard drive, 3GB DDR3 RAM (8GB max), multimedia memory card reader, and a multi-format, double-layer DVD drive with LabelFlash technology. For networking, there is standard 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN. The integrated graphics with a large shared memory cache and high-definition audio help top off the features, along with 3 USB ports (one eSATA/USB) and a streamlined Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) operating system. ErgonomicsThe touch pad and keyboard keys may be too sensitive for some users, but the most noticeable inconvenience is the glossy finish that attracts fingerprints easily. The 15.6" (1366 x 768) TruBrite display likewise tends to acquire prints and scratches with very little touch. This notebook may also be a little too large for many users, so if you're searching for portability then you will want to check out other laptops. Battery life also tends to be shorter than competing models, another disappointment to users. SummaryIf you need a solid-performing notebook that is well-suited for casual gaming, Internet surfing, word processing, and everyday multimedia tasks, then the Toshiba Satellite L505-GS6002 is definitely for you. If the large size of the notebook or lack of Bluetooth and dedicated graphics will be a bother to you, then you may want to consider a different laptop of the same price range. Overall, this is a great notebook, but there are still some negatives that consumers should consider first. Pros
