XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card: Review
Review: XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card

While it is not the best on the market, you may find that the XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card(PV-T96G-YHF4) is a great upgrade from older graphics cards. Its 512MB GDDR3 memory buffer, combined with updated architecture, allows users to enjoy the latest games with little to no errors during game play. And although the majority of users may find that this model is simply an updated version of another card, it still blazes through high-resolution games much more efficiently. Price reasonably well, this model may be the right buy for you.

As many modern graphics cards come, the GeForce 9600 GT is fairly large, with dimensions measuring 9" x 4.376" x 0.75." One positive to note about this model is that it only requires a 400 watt power supply, compared to the 500 watt unit required by more expensive models. And while this is not the best card you can buy for the price, it performs to the expectations of the gamer and then some. It comes packed with the latest enhancements in graphic-rendering technologies, which is essential to a continuation in game entertainment. All in all, this model makes for a great replacement, although XFX could have made wiser decisions in the marketing department as far as capabilities go.

Rating:  4.2 out of 5

Features

As far as overall features, this model is fairly basic. It features full support for DirectX 10, Shader Model, Open GL, HDCP, and Giga Thread technologies- allowing this graphics card to boast vivid color accuracy and solid gaming performance. Among other goodies is the integrated Lumenex engine and NVIDIA Quantum Effects physics processing technology. The GeForce 9600 GT also has two dual-link DVI outputs that support two 2560x1600 resolution displays, along with HDTV/TV outputs. Features-wise, everything is mostly standard as compared to similarly-priced graphics cards.

Performance

Thanks to the 512MB GDDR3 memory and a 650MHZ core clock, the majority of intensive games and HD video operates smoothly and effortlessly. While performance does not match that of more expensive graphics cards, the XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT provides a gaming experience that beats out several equally-priced competitors. By all means, this does not mean that this graphics card is the greatest, but it still gets the job done for an acceptable price. So if you want the best performance and quality for the price, this model may still be in your range.

Summary

If you always have problems with your favorite games or you can't buy or play a game with high visual effects, then the XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 512MB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card may be right for you. While it's clearly not the best, it is a good upgrade for users who have graphics cards several years out of date. And at a fairly reasonable price, this model could be at the top of your shopping list the next time you visit the electronics store.
